Our Curriculum is based on learning through play approached and has been tailored to FSN from both owner’s experience and education. We implement our curriculum through a range of free choice activities that the children can play with on their own or in a group.
Our Teachers interact to find out what the child is learning, to offer ideas on how they can extend this learning, to encourage children to find out new things and to develop their language.
In addition FSN develop their own long term plan to cover holidays and monthly themes and introduce new ideas and topics from the world around them, we encourage our children to try out new things, to keep trying if they encounter difficulties, to enjoy their achievements, to extend their understanding, to encourage acceptable behavior, to improve children’s concentration, to promote sharing and taking turns and to developing relationships.
We go on a number of fun field trips over the year such as trips to local parks and playgrounds, ferry and bus rides, the fire station, police station, butterfly garden, train rides, The National Gallery, Dockyard and neighborhood walks. We also offer swimming lessons with Aquamania in June and July and Gymnastics at the school on a Monday, and Music classes on Wednesday. All at an additional cost.
Field Trips
We love to take our students out and about exploring their beautiful island home. We have a number of fun field trips planned throughout the year and some spontaneous ones. For safely resons our children wear their school uniform on all trips and a school hat. We also carry a small first aid box with us.
Parks and Playgrounds
We love to visit our local parks and walk over to our closest one Victoria Park for a run around and lunch. We go further afield to Queen Elizabeth Park and catch the bus to The botanical gardens as wel as other local playground
Public transportation
Out children like nothing better than hopping on a bus outside our school gates or catching the ferry up to Dockyard or just a round trip on the lower ferry.
Our Services
A trip to The Fire Station for Fire Prevention week or to Hamilton fire Station is always a big hit!! Our children meet sparky the fire dog. Sit on police bikes and have fun hanging out with our local service men and women. We have also visited The Bermuda Regiment too.
Farms and Aquarium
We like to expose our children to different experiences and have visited Wild Island farm, Westover Farm, Windreach and The Aquarium where our students can learn about local animals and pet them under supervision. Our most recent find was Wild Island farm that was an amazing experience for our children where they could hand feed the animals such as ducks. Goats and rabbits.
