Liz Tatem

Owner / Operator

Ms. Tatem trained in the UK and obtained her NNEB in 1984, she has over 36 years experience in the field and always wanted to work with children. Prior to moving to Bermuda in 1989 worked as a Nanny and also on a Children's Ward at a Surrey Hospital. She has worked in a number of other local Nursery Schools in Bermuda as Head Teacher before opening Flying Start Nursery in August 2004. It was always her dream to open her own school one day.

Trina Bassett

Head Teacher / Partner

Ms. Trina started working @ FSN in 2005 with over 25 years in the field. Previously she had worked at other local nurseries as well as Toys and Stuff. She trained in New Hampshire @ Hesser College and obtained her Associates in Arts in 1993. Ms. Trina has also completed further training with St. Johns Ambulance. She is the Teacher to our 4 – 5 year old Pre School Class as well as Head Teacher.

Shawnette Smith

Deputy Head Teacher

Mrs. Shawnette started her career in education working on the US Naval base in 1991 where she gained onsite training and has over 28 years’ experience in the field. She has worked at a number of other local nursery schools but worked at FSN from its inception in 2004. Later she decided to train in nursing and obtained her Nursing certificate in 2011. She then returned to FSN in 2012 where she is the Teacher to our 3 year old Class The Helicopters as well as Duputy Head Teacher. She has a 23 year old daughter.

Zalika Darrell

Teachers Assistant

Mrs. Zalika has worked at FSN since 2014 in both our Helicopters (3-4) and Jets (18mths to 3) Classes. She is great with our little ones and has a 9 year old son. Zalika is planning to further her education online.

Jamahria Burchall

Floating Teachers Assistant

Miss. Jamahria joined the FSN team in September 2018 as a summer student, she has returned to us in January 2019 on a part time basis while she continues her studies.
